Margaret River Cultural & Lifestyle Attractions

Margaret River has developed a reputation on the world stage through its world class surfing beaches and its premium wines but that is not all that makes it an attractive place to live and visit.

Nestled on the banks of the Margaret River, the town has a charming appeal with fabulous shopping and all the facilities that you would expect in a larger town.  Tourists flock there in their thousands to enjoy all that’s on offer: the surf, wines, gourmet foods, arts and crafts, adventure tourism including abseiling and rock climbing amongst others or just to relax in one of the many retreats in the area.

Arts and Crafts

The area is a magnet for talented artisans and artists and has produced some highly original artworks and furniture, often using the natural raw materials that abound in the area.  There are many stunning galleries to showcase these works of art.

Water Activities

Best known for its stunning surf beaches, Margaret River also offers most water sports and activities including canoeing, fishing and swimming to name a few.

Wineries

Margaret River is one of the world's great winemaking regions. The intense chardonnays, rich Semillons, robust cabernets or soft merlots of the Margaret River region have a reputation for renowned character and quality, and have been rewarded with numerous Australian and international awards. The happy blend of favourable climatic conditions, exceptional soils, and gifted, fervent winemakers consistently results in varietals and blends of great appeal.

A good proportion of these wineries also have cellar doors and often a café or restaurant serving delicious gourmet food.

Food

The Margaret River region has become a “foodies” heaven with specialist food shops and top chefs opening gourmet restaurants and cafes.  Specialist hand made chocolates, delicious cheeses and yoghurts, organic foods are just a few of the food delights produced in the region.
