Geographe Bay Race WeekThe fourth annual Port Geographe 2006 Geographe Bay Race Week will set sail from Friday 24th February to Friday March 3rd 2006. This very successful event has grown in size to become the largest yachting regatta of its kind in Western Australia.

The regatta encompasses seven days of serious sailing surrounding a seriously fun social calendar. There is no rest for the wicked in this event with hard fought sailing to be had on the waters of Geographe Bay and some hard fought talking about how well you sailed back on shore!

Seven divisions of racing have been established this year, which allows yachts of all designs to find a competitive racing category. From large catamarans and cruisers down to the under 10m trailer sailors, the event is an opportunity for all yachtsmen and crew to pit their experience and skills against other yachts.  Sailed on the magnificent waters of Geographe Bay, yachtsman from all walks can sail with confidence and in competition.

The Port Geographe 2006 Geographe Bay Race Week is set to be the largest regatta in its four-year history. The event has doubled in size over the last three years, and the 2006 event is set to attract over 130 yachts from all over Western Australia. Entrants have nominated from as far north as Port Hedland and as far south as Esperance. In 2005, crew positions were filled by visitors from the USA and Holland, giving the event a true international flavour.

The 2005 Race Week event attracted over 1000 skippers, crew and associated family to the Busselton area, injecting approximately $2.1 million into the local economy. The Port Geographe 2006 Geographe Bay Race Week is expected to attract nearly 2000 visitors to the area this year, which is a tourist injection of nearly $3 million to the South West area.

The Port Geographe 2006 Geographe Bay Race Week is proud to have the support of the Port Geographe Development Partners as well as key support from Eventscorp, Capel Vale Wines and COSOL. The support form the local community has also been fantastic which ensures the success of another Race Week event.
