A "Driver" is the term given to a small software program which communicates with your computer and various hardware devices you are connecting to it. These are generally pre-installed when you buy your computer or you may need to install when you buy new hardware. Some devices you purchase like a printer may be at least twelve months past the time that the driver was developed for it and a newer driver may have been developed to overcome a bug or has better capabilities. So downloading the lastest driver for your specific devices will be an advantage.
